In the spirit of our deeply shared ethos with our venue, Hollywood Art Lounge, giving a platform to local artists, we’re inviting the Memphis creative community to be a part of our upcoming experience:
Whimsyhaus will be producing a small event zine featuring work inspired by the event's titular prompt,
Good But Fragile Things
What that represents may be deeply personal: the things that are delicate, that break, or are fleeting; those that are precious because they don't last forever. We invite you to channel your own interpretation of this concept into your work.
The zine will debut at Good But Fragile Things at Hollywood Art Lounge on November 7.
Each artist whose work is featured will receive a complimentary copy of the finished zine at a pre-show artists' welcome, along with the performing artists, immediately preceding the event, are invited to attend the show at no cost.
Good But Fragile Things is a Pay What You Can event, with a suggested contribution of $10. Attendees who contribute $10 or more will receive a complimentary copy of the zine as our small way of saying thank you for directly supporting the arts. Additional copies will be available to patrons for $1 to help offset printing and production costs.
All proceeds from Whimsyhaus shows are distributed directly to our performing artists. Whimsyhaus personally funds the remaining costs associated with producing our events and zines.
SUBMISSION CRITERIA

Medium / Art Form
2D visual art, poetry, short-form written work, photography, illustration, and experimental or mixed-media work are all welcome, so long as the work can be reproduced on a printed page.

Format & Color
The zine will primarily be printed in black and white, so submissions should ideally be high-contrast and clear without relying on color. We anticipate selecting up to three works for full-color printing. (Tip: If submitting black-and-white art, high-resolution grayscale or 300 DPI files translate best!)

Because this is a community-centered project connected directly to the November 5 experience, submissions are currently open to artists who live in the Memphis/surrounding or who will be visiting Memphis during the event.

Content Guidelines
Please do not submit work featuring violence, illegal activity, or highly graphic sexual or disturbing imagery.

SUBMISSION PROCESS & LOGISTICS
Complete submissions are due by Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
To submit, please complete both parts of the process below:

The title of your artwork and exact file name entered in the form will be used to match your separately emailed file to your submission, so please review the full instructions before submitting.
Artists who submit complete materials will be notified by October 31 whether their work will appear in the event zine.

Please note: Your name, phone number, and email address collected in the first three sections are not published, but are used to communicate about your submission and ensure we're talking to a real human being. *Use the same title of your piece submitted in the form as the email subject line.
*Attach the submission file using the exact file name you entered in the form.
2) If you submitted social media handles: please follow us at @its.whimsyhaus on Instagram and send us a message that says, "zine submission confirmation message." If other social media handles or portfolios are listed, please ensure they are listed/accessible in a link posted to your Instagram bio. This allows us to verify that the handle is legitimately associated with the person who submitted the form and to tag you in a zine announcement post the week of the event.
NOTE: The zine will not be published digitally at this time.
